2.10. Summary

The first lesson of any programming language starts from its character set and the concept of constants, variables and expressions. This basic issue has been dealt with in this chapter. The types of constants and variables have been discussed at length and their use has been well illustrated using numerous examples. The different types of operators—arithmetic, relational and logical—are also given. The hierarchy of operations is described with examples. The use of functions is very important, as most of the MATLAB commands are implemented as built-in functions. The issues related to some basic functions, their arguments and their use have been discussed at length and illustrated using example programs.
