The animation of a two-dimensional fluid and a two-dimensional cloth are two effects that can be added to a game engine to provide a large visual impact for a relatively small amount of implementation effort. Although both fluid and cloth simulation can become very complex in advanced implementations, an elementary simulator for each type of animation is not difficult to construct.
