Abstract

The author carried out a major redesign and eco-renovation of a house in Wellington, New Zealand, that incorporated deconstruction and materials reuse as major imperatives in its design approach. This case study explores the deconstruction and the reconstruction of this house using components and materials recovered from the original house. The challenges, opportunities, successes, and the problems encountered together with their resolution are described.
