Analysis of large-strain microindentation of crystalline polymers
Y. Lu, University of Kentucky, USA
Abstract:
This chapter presents the analysis of large-strain microindentation tests for measuring the plastic properties of crystalline polymers in small volumes. Experimental results are obtained by using cylindrical, flat-ended indenters with the diameters of less than 100 μm (larger than the molecular dimensions of the crystalline polymers). The deformation process is analyzed theoretically to obtain material properties from the microindentation tests.
