6.12. Picture Library

Picture libraries were meant to store all the pictures a site or site collection might require (with thumbnail views, download options, and slideshow). All image files stored in a picture library will have a URL so you can use them elsewhere. This comes in handy if you have a contact list of employees and pictures for each employee in a picture library. You can then use the Hyperlink/Picture field (conveniently part of the contact list by default) to point to the picture's URL for each employee.

To see how a picture library works, let's create one.

Just click Site Actions, and then click Create from the dropdown menu. On the Create page, click Picture Library in the Libraries category.
