The Fault badge is a measure of immediate problems the object has. The score for the Fault badge is scored from 0 being good to 100 being bad.
The Fault badge is mapped against events of the object. This could be loss of a storage path event from the vCenter server or CPU temp or memory DIMM failure retrieved from the ESXi hosts CIM providers. The Fault badge usually highlights issues that require immediate action. The Fault badge is also the only badge that is solely event-driven and is not derived from any metrics.
The badge changes its color based on the severity of the faults:
- Green (<= 25): No faults are registered on the selected object
- Yellow (> 25): Faults of low importance are registered on the selected object
