A super metric is a metric in its own right, and, unlike views which are only dynamically generated when requested by a dashboard or report, a super metric once applied is always being calculated and stored in the FSDB as if it were a normal metric. Although the drawback of this, as mentioned previously, is that an administrator has no data for a super metric before it was applied, it does allow for a variety of benefits that views cannot provide.
