7.3. Installing VMware Tools
Although VMware Tools is not installed by default, the package is an important part of a virtual machine. VMware Tools offers several great benefits without any detriments. In other words, installing VMware Tools should be standard practice and not a debatable step in the deployment of a virtual machine. The VMware Tools package provides the following:
Optimized SCSI driver
Enhanced video and mouse performance
Virtual machine heartbeat
Virtual machine quiescing for snapshots and backups
Enhanced memory management
