4.2. Installing vCenter Update Manager

VUM installs from the vCenter Server Installer and requires that at least one vCenter Server instance is already installed. You will find that installing VUM is much like installing vCenter Server, which you saw in the previous chapter.

Perform the following general steps to install VUM:

  1. Configure the separate database server for VUM.

  2. Create an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) data source name (DSN) for VUM.

  3. Install VUM.

  4. Configure the VUM services to support Windows authentication.

  5. Install the VUM plug-in for the vSphere Client.
