Creating a VSAN cluster

We are now going to run through the process of creating a vSphere Cluster, which has VSAN storage enabled. We are going to assume that you have already built your hosts with the specific hardware requirements for VSAN and have vCenter running in a management cluster, ready for you to create your new VSAN cluster inside.

From within the vSphere web client, we will want to create a new cluster within an existing datacenter, for that perform the following steps:

  1. Select the icon for Hosts and Cluster view (1), expand your vCenter (2), and then right-click on the datacenter (3).
  2. Select New Cluster... (4) from the menu, as shown in the following screenshot:
