10.3. Backing Up the Library Servers
VMM library servers are regular file servers that host file shares with the building blocks for creating virtual machines in VMM. Library server shares will include VHD, VMDK, ISO, PS1, INF, VFD, FLP, and XML files in addition to stored virtual machines. To back up and recovery a library server, use the same techniques your organization has adopted for backup and recovery of Windows file servers. In addition, regularly capture bare metal recovery backups (or full server backups) of the library servers that can be used in a disaster recovery situation. Figure 10.24 shows the creation of a new protection group in DPM for complete bare metal recovery protection of the library file server.
