Let’s revisit our fundamental premise: If a piece of software (or any device or service) is to be built, it must be optimally valuable to its owner.

From this statement, you can safely infer that if you are to know what is optimally valuable, you must firstly determine what the owner is actually doing, who he is doing it with or for, and why he wants to do it.
