I don’t want to get into deep theory in this chapter because most people are not really interested in reading a technical manual. However, since the Nikon D300S is also a video camera, it’s good to understand some basics—if for no other reason than to impress your friends and to make your videos look great. I’m sure you want that!

Before shooting your first D-Movie, you’ll need to configure the camera for your favorite video frame size. We’ll look into the actual configuration in a later section. For now, let’s just discuss some basics.
