7.1. What's New in Software Updates
The Software Updates feature of Configuration Manager now leverages WSUS technology to allow for more granular configuration options, separates itself from dependency from other Configuration Manager features, and finally consolidates client scanning into one tool. The newly designed feature also allows for a wider variety of updates as well as decreasing the amount of bandwidth the feature uses overall.
Table 7.1 gives an overview of the changes to Software Updates in Configuration Manager compared to SMS 2003.
