6.5. The Software Distribution Process

Assuming that you have already taken the steps laid out earlier in this chapter to plan, enable, and configure software distribution for your environment, you have to set up a deployment through software deployment. You'll perform some of these steps most of the time, but you might do others only if you start from scratch with a new package, programs, and so on. It all depends on what you are deploying in any given situation.

Gradually these steps will become second nature to you as you do them more often, especially now that Configuration Manager has more wizard-driven tasks to aid you along the way, unlike in SMS 2003, when you had to take a more "manual" approach to get the same job done.
