4.2. Site System Roles

The ability to designate various site system roles to different servers within Configuration Manager 2007 allows it to become distributed and highly scalable.

As stated before, with a distributed architecture comes complexity. A distributed architecture may be necessary to scale to the client count or to provide a higher level of performance by distributing a single or multiple roles to multiple servers within a hierarchy. These roles can be viewed in two separate places, the Site Systems node in the Configuration Manager console (see Figure 4.2) or within the Hierarchy Manager log (hman.log) (see Figure 4.3).
