12.1. Overview of Desired Configuration Management

At its simplest, Desired Configuration Management allows you to check your Configuration Manager clients to see if they are compliant with the settings you specify, but there is much more to it than that.

Users Are Not Configuration Manager Clients

While Configuration Manager allows you to easily create collections based on users and you can apply DCM baseline configurations to a collection of users, it is the agent on the computer that runs the compliance check and not the user.
