7.9. Monitoring Software Update Deployments
There are two main phases to the software deployment process that is performed by Configuration Manager client software:
Evaluation Configuration Manager clients determine if the software updates in a deployment are required.
Enforcement Clients report their compliance state for the deployment.
Microsoft provides excellent reports to monitor the phases of software update deployments in Configuration Manager 2007, and these reports are considered the best way to monitor the software update deployments. Those reports can be found in the Software Updates - C. Deployment States category in the Reports node in the Configuration Manager console.
