Chapter 4. Preparing the Data

In the previous chapter, we got acquainted with the tools that we'll use in this chapter to build our data warehouse. It is not guaranteed that we will have data from only one data source. Different departments in an enterprise environment can have different data sources and hence, the methodologies of pulling relevant data from these data sources would differ. In this chapter, we will be looking at the common data sources available to store the live data and how we can extract the data from these data sources into a common SQL Server database, which will be our staging database.
