Maintaining the ROS package

Most ROS packages are maintained using a Version Control System (VCS) such as Git, Subversion (svn), Mercurial (hg), and so on. A collection of packages that share a common VCS can be called a repository. The package in the repository can be released using a catkin release automation tool called bloom. Most ROS packages are released as open source with the BSD license. There are active developers around the globe who are contributing to the ROS platform.
