This type of collaboration is one of the newer ways to work with others. The collaboration platform is similar to others such as Facebook, but it is used for work. Yammer was one of the first platforms for this type of collaboration. Microsoft bought Yammer and integrated it into the Office 365 platform. Newsfeed is a smaller platform that has been offered in Office 365 from the beginning. This setting gives you the option of using a larger platform or a smaller one.
Yammer is still not currently covered under the Office 365 Trust Center.
