10.5. How Do I Obtain Remote Desktop Server?
Remote Desktop Server is included with the following operating systems:
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter Edition
The ability to leverage RDC/RDP to remotely administer a Microsoft Windows Server is available in all versions. Note that all of the above editions except Foundation have a Server Core installation option. While remote desktop administration is available in the Core installation, full Remote Desktop Services is not.
