11.6. Configuring an RD Licensing Server
The RD Licensing server can be installed on a domain-joined Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 server. For the examples that follow, we will be setting up a new RD Licensing server on Windows Server 2008 R2. Log on as user with local administrator privileges to the Windows Server 2008 R2 server you plan on using. Server Manager should start automatically after you log on. After Server Manager starts, click Roles in the leftmost column and then click Add Roles in the Roles Summary area. As when we previously installed the RDS role, the Add Roles Wizard will launch and subsequently prompt you for the information needed to instantiate a new RDS role.
