Large enterprise models support many users from across the organization and typically each user only requires access to a section of the model. For example, a sales team member may only need to access a sales fact table and several dimension tables and thus shouldn't have to navigate through many other irrelevant tables that support other business teams. Perspectives in Analysis Services allow the modeler to map objects of the model (tables, columns, and measures) to a specific perspective such that users connecting to the model via the perspective only see those objects.
