Many organizations have made significant investments in scalable on-premises data sources and have implemented user security rules/conditions in these sources. For these organizations, it's often preferable to use DirectQuery data connections that leverage both the resources of the source and the custom security rules. To address this scenario, the On-premises data gateway now supports a single sign-on feature that passes the identity of the Power BI user to the data source via Kerberos constrained delegation.
