Chapter 3. Light, Shadow, and Exposure Control

Lighting is, arguably, one of the most important aspects of your scene. Great materials and wonderful geometry will all be for nothing if you have a poorly lit scene. Despite its importance, all too often the task of lighting a scene is left for the end of a project, where little time and attention can be afforded to creating a quality lighting solution and properly testing both light settings and render options. A great rendering is rarely created on the first try after simply throwing in lights and clicking Render. Lighting and rendering your scene can be a time-consuming process, and the process typically takes a lot of tweaking to adjust settings for each unique scene.
