Summary

In this chapter, we discussed the basics of TCP/IP networking in Linux and even configured our interfaces manually. We explored how to edit the configuration files associated with Debian and CentOS, as well as how to restart networking on both platforms. We briefly talked about the systemd method, though we'll explore systemd in more depth in Chapter 5, Monitoring System Resources. We finished the chapter by utilizing the nmtui tool to configure Network Manager for our system.

In the next chapter, we'll take a look at how to use Secure Shell (SSH) to remotely manage our systems.
