In 1494, a Franciscan friar by the name of Luca Pacioli, published the 2nd book ever published, after the Bible, on the Gutenberg press, becoming the western world’s first published author. He assembled a math textbook called the Summa de Arithmetica, which in addition to fundamental material on mathematics, proportion and perspective, included a chapter called Computaris et Scriptaris (Computing and Writing).
