Can we convert any physical computers to virtual using virt-v2v?

Many a times, you must have thought whether it is possible to convert a physical computer to a virtual system using virt-v2v. It depends on the physical system configuration. I have tested converting many physical computers and it worked absolutely fine. However, there are some restrictions that apply to P2V. To perform a P2V conversion, your physical system must have the following prerequisites:

  • They must have at least 512 MB of RAM.
  • They cannot have any volumes larger than 2040 GB.
  • virt-v2v supports P2V conversion for computers based on the x86 or x86_64 architecture. You won't able able convert computers with Itanium architecture–based operating systems.
