Don't forget that JavaFX is open source and you can just go and check any API code to see how it works.
You can either download it from http://hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk/jdk10 or, again, use Java IDEs, which usually allow viewing a Java source by clicking on the name of the method or class you are interested in.
