10. Notifications

Notifications are Apple’s method of keeping the user informed of important iOS app-related events when the user is not actively using an app. Because only one iOS app can be active and in the foreground at a time, notifications provide a mechanism to have inactive apps receive important and time-sensitive information and notify the user.
