Learning to Back Up on a Budget

Windows Server Backup is a feature in Windows Server 2008 R2, but by default it is not installed. To install Windows Server Backup so that you can configure it to support Hyper-V, you need to do the following:

  1. Launch Server Manager, and select the Features node.
  2. Click the Add Features option; the Add Features Wizard will launch.
  3. Expand the Windows Server Backup Features node (Figure 10.1), and select Windows Server Backup. Optionally select Command-Line Tools. Click Next.

  4. Click Install to begin the installation.
