Chapter 10. Reinventing Project Scripting II

Chapters 8, “Storyboards,” and 9, “Sketches,” looked at Celtx’s storyboard and sketch tools as part of a pre-production workflow triggered when a script was locked and breakdowns had begun (or even concluded). Traditionally, especially in live action films, this was when storyboarding commenced.

Historically, however, animated films and cartoon shows frequently started with storyboarding. And now that production teams may be formed rapidly and expected to develop projects within days, storyboarding may begin simultaneously with—or may even precede—scripting. In addition, some media creators may be far more comfortable “outlining” a script by starting with storyboards.
