Preparing for Plan Sets
Before you start generating all sorts of wonderful plan sets, you must address a few concepts and prerequisites. Civil 3D takes advantage of several features and components to build a plan set. Some of these components have existed in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for years (for example, layout tabs, drawing templates, alignments, and profiles). Others are new properties of existing features (such as Plan and Profile viewport types). Still others are entirely new objects, including view frames, match lines, and view frame groups. Let’s look at what you need to have in place before you can create your plotted masterpieces.
