Edit Preferences

You can customize the settings and control much of the behavior within Dreamweaver by editing the preferences. Most of the preferences can be found in the Preferences dialog box.

The Preferences dialog box is divided into 19 categories: General, Accessibility, AP Elements, Code Coloring, Code Format, Code Hints, Code Rewriting, Copy/Paste, CSS Styles, File Compare, File Types/Editors, Fonts, Highlighting, Invisible Elements, New Document, Preview in Browser, Site, Status Bar, and Validator. Most of the time, when Dreamweaver is defaulting to something that you do not like, you will find a setting in one of these categories to control it.
