Part III: Achieving a Steady State

Customer MDM is a set of ongoing processes and disciplines, not just the implementation of a plan and its key parts. Like other business or domestic practices in our lives, what we plan, gather, and build does not typically or automatically clean and maintain itself. That requires ongoing practices and discipline. Data and data management is no different. In this section, we focus on these practices, the fine-tuning, and the competencies that will not only drive a steady state of MDM but also will drive recognition that a well-implemented MDM model can stand on its own merits as a highly valued business practice. Part III focuses on the concepts and practices of data maintenance and monitoring to ensure quality and control are managed well. We will show how the achievement of successful maintenance and monitoring practices will lead to many self-governing and self-maintaining closed loop practices. In addition, we cover the characteristics and concepts associated with a mature MDM model such as transitioning your data management participants to become well-engaged MDM practitioners and how to communicate the success and benefits that have emerged from implementing solid MDM practices.
