Preface
Mass customization is not new. There was a bit of a buzz about it, but in the past 10 to 15 years it has become a bit quieter. However, I think the time has come to talk about mass customization again.
This is because a lot has happened in that time in the field of information and communications technology (ICT) as well as in manufacturing technologies. At my company inmatic, the projects we do have evolved more and more from smart factory to mass customization projects. Some projects were new, and others were upgrades of existing factories with new machines and software to make mass customization happen to the fullest.
