Smartphones and Tablets

Smartphones and tablets (and anything in between, for example palm tops or the iWatch) have been around for a while now. What is not so common is their use on the factory floor. However, this is emerging, and just recently I saw a demonstration of a warehousing application where smartphones were used to commission goods.

The people doing the commissioning could use their smartphones to see the warehouse layout, their own position, the positions of all their co-workers in the warehouse, and the position of the next item they have to pick.
