Indirect Competitors—the Silent Killers

Competition to this point dealt with direct competitors—companies that make identical or similar products, such as conveyor rollers, steel pipe, saw blades, vision inspection systems—that are designed and built to perform some specific action, solve a problem, lower cost, last longer, or provide better quality. There are other products and technologies, however, that perform similarly but might solve a problem differently or use a different technology.
