Line symbols

With line symbols, we can also move beyond defaults. Lines can have casings (outlines), and variable dash lengths, to add information and create a hierarchy where appropriate.  Let's work on the light rail symbol:

  1. Select the light rail symbol in the Contents pane.
  2. In the gallery, search for rail. You should see a couple of results with the traditional railroad symbol of a line with cross hatches. These can be difficult to work with, as the hatching makes the symbol noisier, and sometimes in tight quarters, the angles get a little strange. This symbol is also typically reserved for heavy rail.
  3. Select the gray and white symbol from Scheme 3 (hover over the symbol to see the details).
