Work as a Learning Experience

DON’T WASTE your time worrying about what may happen in the future; just keep building your strengths doing a very good job and educating yourself for the future. Then if your career works out, it will work out.

After university I did a PhD; I don’t really know why, except that it seemed like a good idea at the time. I then became part of the brain drain to the United States and worked for five years with Bell Aerospace in the United States doing all sorts of useful things. At one time, I was a world expert on air-to-ground helicopter gunfire—not something that has stood me in particularly good stead since.
