A virtual manager needs to be proficient in the same skills as a traditional manager, in addition to having some new and specialized skills. The level of skill that the manager needs in a given area might be quite different for a virtual manager compared to a traditional manager. A solid foundation in business and/or technical management skills is essential for any manager, no matter what level of virtual management will be required.
