Changing the Structure to Consolidate Power
In earlier chapters, we saw that structure can be a source of power. Your position in the organization can provide access to information, and this provides power. Your position in the hierarchy can provide formal authority. And the particular issues that fall within your jurisdiction in the division of labor can provide power if those issues are particularly critical for the organization.
