Guidelines:Analyzing Current Leadership Needs

Steps:

1.  Working with HR, gather data about your current leadershipmanagement “state of the union.”

2.  Engage your managers in studying this staffing data. Use focus groups, surveys, and/or interviews to find out where the leadership hot spots are.

3.  Finally, define and implement concrete actions you must take to address your leadership needs.

Questions to Ask:

•  What does our current data reveal about leadership gaps now? What does it forecast for the near future?

•  What are our present approaches to leadership development? Which actually result in more leadership competency and bench strength?

•  Which of our managers will be retiring within the next three to five years? What is our succession ...
