Realism, Not Magic

Growing software is a realistic way to start with ambiguity and end up with working software real people want. There isn't anything magical or mystical about it. It's based on a simple premise that everybody on the team is trying to figure out what the heck is going on from moment to moment. Most projects I've been part of look exactly that way, despite what the plan says.
