Chapter 14. Finishing Projects

Projects start with promise, and frequently end with disappointment. If growing software is to make any difference in the industry, it will have to help people finish strong, again and again. As much as managers might not want it to be true, that responsibility lies primarily with them. Their job is to help their teams deliver, not cover their behinds in case of failure. They're part of the team. Everybody's in it together. That means managers still have a job to do once a project starts, but it's a different job than what they might be used to.
