Giving Up Control to Gain It

In the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou?, smooth-talking conman Ulysses Everett McGill and his two friends, Pete and a rube named Delmar, escape from prison. Soon they're having a debate about who's really in charge of their newly formed “gang.” Everett claims he is, because he's the only one with the capacity for abstract thought. Pete challenges him, making Delmar the tie-breaker. Delmar thinks for a second, and says, “Well, all right then. I'm with you fellers.”
