Feeling Our Way

When I talk about growing software, I'm describing something very different from what people learn in business school, or so I'm told. Rather than planning the work and working the plan, I'm suggesting that the way we should make software looks more like feeling our way in the dark. We're groping around for answers, frequently uncertain and sometimes completely blind.

What we're doing when we create software looks more like exploring a dark room than we care to admit. We don't know exactly where we want to end up, or exactly how we'll get there.
