Mitigating Risk with a Disaster Recovery Plan

DISASTERS HAPPEN. You can’t prevent them. The best you can do is prepare for them. A disaster recovery plan (DRP) helps organizations prepare for disasters. When they strike, the DRP mitigates the short-term and long-term damage.

When developing a DRP, there are several factors to consider that are critical to its success. This includes elements that must be provided by management.

It includes what the DRP developers need. It also includes an understanding of several primary concerns. These primary concerns include recovery time objectives and the need for alternate locations. Every DRP must have a budget. Without any funding, the DRP is sure to fail.
