ONBOARDING AND SOCIALIZATION
In many instances, product managers are brought into an organization, either as transfers from other departments or from outside the company. Often, they do not know where to begin their work. Often, there is no Product Master Plan for them to refer to (see Chapter 2 of The Product Manager’s Desk Reference)—and they might not know whether there even is such a plan. Consequently, there has to be some formality that helps you to get them started, comfortably. Even for those product managers who are good self-starters, there should be a framework for them that might resemble a checklist of things to do. This checklist should be put into a calendarlike format.
